The Bob Marley School for the Arts Institute - BobArtsTV  in Jamaica has openings for visiting instructors in the Intensive Mass Communication Program beginning September 1, 2008.

The position intended to be a working vacation for professionals with more than three years of full-time teaching experience.

Duties include teaching advanced levels of photography, food preparation, movie editing, speaking, listening, and writing.

Ras Astor Black is the Founder/Chairman of the Board of Bob Marley School for the Arts Institute, Falmouth, Trelawny – JAMAICA.  He is a Television producer and Host on the BobArtsTV- a local Community Access Cable channel.  He is also the Vice Chairman of the Trelawny Jamaica Cultural Commission. The "Bob Marley Foundation" has granted him permission to develop the "Bob Marley School for the Arts Institute " and he is now collaborating with Flamingo Beach Resort & Development Project to get the project completed and to complete the permanent site for the “Reggae Walk of Fame".

 

He served for many years as the host of the "Reggae Vibration" Radio Show, Northwestern University WNUR Radio and Comcast Community Cable TV in Chicago. It was while living in Chicago that he took his popular radio show and used it to give upcoming Jamaican artists their first start in the music business.   Mr. Black promoted the "Brand Jamaica" tourist theme, thus building his popular Jamaica Connection Tours in Illinois where he would bring hundreds of visitors to vacation in Jamaica. Martins Reggae Music Awards honoured him as the Pioneer Reggae Promoter 1987 and in 1988 as the Promoter of the Year.

 

Prior to migrating to Chicago and after completing his formal education at Cornwall College in Jamaica, Astor worked for five (5) years as a Tour Director at Martins Travel in Montego Bay Jamaica. Ras Astor was born in the historical Maroon Town area known as Point, St. James, an authentic Jamaican and loves Football, Reggae Music and people of all cultures.

He is a well-regarded Community Advocate and has committed himself to his family, especially his only child Astor Black 11, who is a musician living in Atlanta Georgia and to his local community in Trelawny.
